Credibility

How To Know a Website Is Credible?

E.g.

Good Credible website: https://www.healthlinkbc.ca/healthy-eating

  • Something that shows that this website is credible, that it provides us with it’s partners and endorsers information. By checking this website’s partners, we notice that one of them is “The British Columbia College of Family Physicians”. This alone lets us know that they are approved by a College.
  • Another thing that shows us the credibility of this website, is when we open the about us tab. Firstly it provides us with contact information of professional Dietitian using a free emergency consultation number. It has also provided us with the services available.
  • The website provides a Contact Us email. What is Credible about this is that the email is that it is a .gov email. Which is a top-level domain service provided for government and some associates.

Bad Credibility website: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbohydrate

  • Firstly and most important, there is zero information on who wrote this information.
  • This specific website allows anyone to go in and edit what is there regardless of their credibility. For all we know someone could have went in and changed delicate information.
  • An important part of a website being credible, is the consistency of information. Something this website fails to provide. If it is not consistent, what guarantees that the information is accurate and correct?
